Born in Vienna, Austria to Macedonian parents Karin had
become fluent in several languages at a very young age. Her passion for acting
and performing started at an early age as well and she often performed shows
for her close friends and family. She especially loved performing for her
grandfather, Dusev Dimitria who is a famous singer and songwriter in Macedonia
and Europe. He noticed her talents when Karin was only 5 years old and talked
her parents into enrolling her into a musical and theatrical elementary school.
Karin received her first modeling job at age 6 and soon
after started to play the piano, flute and guitar. Over the next four years
Karin received training in dancing and singing. From ages 6 - 10 Karin had performed
in approximately 10 live events per year which helped her get noticed very
early on.
After finishing those four years, every musical and
theatrical school in Vienna wanted to sign her. As Karin’s teachers and parents
were choosing which school she would attend Karin had made the decision to move
out of the spotlight - she wanted to be just a regular student; make friends
and do what children do.
Karin enrolled into Billrothstrasse gymnasium (regular high
school) and realized after only 6 months that she needed to be back on stage. She
talked her parents into taking her out of the gymnasium and enrolling her into
the Music and Theater School, Oskarspielgasse. Soon enough she made lots friends who shared her same
passion for the arts. Karin, now age 11 and together with four close
girlfriends started their first band, “MGF”. The band consisted of the 5 girls who
trained and danced every day during and after school hours. They performed in
competitions and local talent shows against other schools and covered such
artists as Mariah Carey, the Spice Girls and many other well known and popular
groups. They also wrote their own songs, made their own music and did their own
choreography. After 3 years the band broke up and the girls went their separate
ways.
At the wishes of her parents Karin enrolled into BFI (5 year
American Business School) and put her dreams on hold. Her back up plan was to
become a lawyer.
While attending business school Karin continued to pursue
her calling to the arts. Without her parents knowledge she secretly took acting
classes and starting her modeling career; working runway shows and commercial
and print jobs for companies such as L’Oreal, Intersport, Ottakringer and Pen’s
Bungalow. In her last school year Karin was hardly taking classes but was
travelling all over Europe and working as a professional model.
Finally Karin sat her parents down and came clean about what
she was doing in her free time. She got the approval of her parents after
showing them her look book and all she had accomplished on her own and in
pursuit of her career. Although impressed with her accomplishments her parents
convinced her to go to college, which she did. She attended for about a year
before again putting a traditional education aside in pursuit of her dreams.
One day Karin packed her things and told her parents she was
leaving for the United States. Although her mother was happy, her father was
upset about her sudden departure and didn’t talk to her for months.
In NYC Karin signed with Talent1st Management and started
auditioning every day. Soon the auditions paid off and she booked a recurring
role on the TV show “Love Monkey” (Jason Priestly, Tom Cavanagh). The show got
canceled after only a few episodes. Karin didn’t look back and moved on.
She signed with David Schwartz Management and again started
going on auditions. She shot a short film “House Sitting” (with Tobi Gadison) in
Philadelphia and also booked work with “Live Face On Web” doing voice-over work
speaking German, Macedonian and Serbian. A modeling job for Harley Davidson
soon followed.
Karin has since appeared in such feature films as; “Falling Awake”, “Natale
a New York”, “Asylum Seekers”, the Bollywood film “Hastey Hastey” and starred
in “Untitled Chapters”.
In 2008 Karin did a photo shoot for the famed Plaza Hotel in
New York City as well as modeled clothing for Diane Von Furstenberg.
Karin made the move to Los Angeles when she received an audition
for the role of Alexis in “One Tree Hill”. Since relocating to LA she has
auditioned for the roles of Christine in "Bear", Maria in the Twilight saga "Eclispe" and the role of Faith, opposite Antonio Banderas in "The Big Bang".
Karin recently had a co-starring role appearing on the FOX TV
Show “Lie to Me” (Tim Roth) and will have a lead role in the Horror/Thriller, "Yaksha". She also loaned her voice to the international cosmetics company Jafra, promoting the “Made 4 You” line doing the voice over for their German commercials.
Karin studies with Bobbie Shaw Chance at “Expressions
Unlimited” in Sherman Oaks, CA and also trains with Laura Gardner of Howard
Fine Acting Studios in Hollywood.
